Hembree & Associates Inc. is thrilled to announce that Joe C. Hembree, a respected leader in the Sarasota community, has assumed the role of Chair of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. His term commenced on October 1, 2024, marking a significant milestone for both Hembree and the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.   

Hembree, a recognized figure in the business community and past Chair of both the Commercial Real Estate Alliance and Economic Development Organization of Sarasota County, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Sarasota’s growth. He is poised to lead the Chamber in its mission to support local businesses, foster economic development, and enhance the quality of life in Sarasota.   

In his inaugural address as Chair at the Annual Meeting on October 23rd 2024, Hembree outlined his vision for the upcoming year, emphasizing the Chamber’s role as a vital support system for businesses. He highlighted several key initiatives, including:

• Support for Entrepreneurs: Recognizing the importance of startups and small businesses, Hembree announced a partnership with 26 West to provide ongoing support and monthly programming for entrepreneurs.   
• Affordable Housing: Building on the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to address affordable housing challenges, Hembree confirmed the continuation of their work in creating more affordable housing solutions in the region.   
• Community Collaboration: Underscoring the importance of collaborative partnerships, Hembree highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to supporting and promoting community assets such as the Bay project, Mote Marine, Selby Gardens, and the Sarasota Orchestra.   
• Advocacy: Hembree emphasized the Chamber’s dedication to advocating for business-critical issues such as childcare access, mental health, transportation, and water management. He also mentioned the reinstitution of an intercity trip to Charleston to learn best practices and participation in the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s legislative fly-in to Tallahassee.   

Hembree also addressed the recent challenges faced by the Sarasota community due to Hurricanes Debbi, Helene and Milton all hitting the community inside 3 months. He emphasized the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to supporting the community with resources and assistance to help businesses and individuals get back on their feet.   

“I am honored to accept the role of Board Chair,” Hembree stated. “It is a privilege to have the opportunity to build upon the 104-year legacy of our community leaders and work with our incredible board and amazing staff to cultivate Sarasota’s prosperity and quality of life through our member businesses.”
